My new job isn't right for me.

You've just been hired. You've finally gotten your dream job... But today, you have to admit that you were wrong. This new job isn't suitable for you. You don't feel good there. Neither in terms of substance nor form... What to do?

Where is/are the deep problem(s)?

In the face of your dissatisfaction, you must question yourself further. Are you sure you consciously chose this position? What attracted you during the interview? What doesn't meet your expectations: the mission, the work atmosphere, the company's policy, its codes, the relationships with your brand new colleagues and the hierarchy...?

It is essential to clearly identify the precise source of discontent in order to be able to cancel it or to avoid repeating the mistake during your next recruitment.

Give yourself time

Amidst your understandable distress, it is still advisable to take a few days, or even a few weeks, to take a beneficial break in order to examine yourself a little more deeply. Are you sure you are not simply overwhelmed, destabilized by the novelty required of you, both in terms of skills and human relations or the corporate culture? Remember that, for everything and everywhere, a period of adaptation, fine-tuning, and various adjustments is necessary. Taking some time before making a final decision may be able to happily change the situation. In case of hesitation, why not renew your probationary period, while being aware that this will be interpreted as a step back, a disengagement...

Solve with clear answers

Once you have located the source of the problem, ask for a meeting with your superior or with the person in charge of human resources. It will be a question of being as transparent and precise as possible in explaining the existing discomfort. Dare to speak, dare to question, engage in a real dialogue, free of fear. However, remember not to be accusatory or bitter. You are not there to make reproaches but to understand and, if possible, resolve the dissatisfaction. You have nothing to lose by being perfectly honest and why not ask for a clear integration plan to be put in place.

Dare to move on to new horizons

You are now certain: you want to leave. Perfect. Reactivate your contacts, networks and searches, rethink your resume, browse the ads again, be active but continue to do your job correctly in the interest of all. No experience is accidental, no work is useless.
