Over 32,700 Hiring Processes During the First Half of 2014

Some 32,700 recruitments, including 11,000 for higher education graduates (a 34% rate), were recorded during the first half of 2014, compared to 33,193 during the same period in 2013, according to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Professional Training and Employment.
These results are below those recorded in 2010, despite the slight improvement recorded in recent years, according to the same statistics.
The same data confirms the increase in the number of higher education graduates who were recruited following internships, 7,387 compared to 6,334 during the same period in 2013.
This increase is due to the improvement in the social and political situation and the role of raising awareness among business leaders by trade unions and civil society that the main objective of employment promotion programs is integration.
The geographical distribution of hiring operations by region shows that the Greater Tunis and East Central districts account for 54% of total recruitments during this period, while the Northwest district recorded 8% and the West Central district 6%.
Manufacturing industries occupy the first place in hiring with a rate of 29%, despite the low capacity to accommodate higher education graduates, whose rate does not exceed 20%.
On the other hand, the rate of reception capacity in the services sector did not exceed 20%. The services sector, the main employer of graduates with 57% of the total recruits.
The number of women benefiting from hiring operations reached 18,400. According to the latest statistics, the number of job seekers for the first half of 2014 reached 64,800 compared to 65,390 for 2013, a decrease of 1%.
The management category represents 28% of the total number of job seekers, an increase of 54% compared to 2013, compared to a decrease in the category of non-graduates applying for jobs at employment offices.
The specialties of management, law, literature and social sciences represent 88% of the total applications registered, the same rate recorded for 4 years.
According to the report published by the Ministry of Employment and Professional Training, registration at employment offices has resumed its usual pace, an average of 10,000 job seekers per month, with exceptional registration on the occasion of the opening of national competitions.
