You need to present and defend an idea to an audience, or present the results of a survey you conducted? You need to present the company's new strategy?
Whatever the subject you are going to present, it is very likely that you know more than your interlocutors since you have studied it in depth. So you are very tempted to bombard them with data and complicated analyses... And that's the thing not to do!
The problem is that instead of convincing them... you risk losing them! Remember that to be persuasive, some examples, some data, some study results require a whole background to understand them, something your audience doesn't necessarily have.
So the advice to remember is to forget all the information and figures you have collected throughout your study and keep only the essentials. Your presentation must be SIMPLE.
To be impactful, present your point of view clearly and precisely. If you want to engage your audience, you must identify in one second what really matters to him and above all use common sense. Forget complicated graphs and useless information. Be concise and precise.
Also avoid jargon and complicated words that may exclude some of your interlocutors. Prefer short sentences.
Also set aside language tics that can quickly become polluting and disconcerting for your interlocutors. The 'uh', 'mmm'... are to be avoided! Opt instead for moments of silence, this will allow your audience to better integrate your words and you, to better organize your thoughts.
