What to do if you don't get along with a work colleague?

At work, you spend at least 8 hours with the same people in a small space. You have probably noticed that it is not always easy. You have different colleagues who have totally different approaches. Here are some tips for better understanding at work.

Does something annoy you about a colleague? Try to pinpoint exactly what bothers you. Maybe it's something you do too. In that case, try to work on that yourself and be more patient with your colleague.

Is a colleague particularly exasperating because they are nothing like you? Then try to find a way to manage that difference. For example, you like things to move forward at work while your colleague is more of a laid-back type? Consider setting a deadline for each project by which your colleague must have given you certain information. Both parties thus clearly know the degree of urgency of a problem.
Is a colleague destabilizing you with their well-aimed remarks or comments at work? Try not to get discouraged and stay calm. Maybe this person is under a lot of pressure and is taking it out on you. Try to calmly and clearly make it clear that you feel you can't do anything about the problem and reach a constructive solution.

Don't take workplace discussions too much to heart. If someone really exasperates you, it will eventually affect your mood and productivity, and you can't let that happen.
If a problem with a work colleague really gets out of hand, try talking to someone else. It will relieve you, and this colleague may be able to help you change the situation. Obviously, don't start gossiping all over the workplace; it will only make things worse.

Do you feel like a colleague isn't listening to you? Writing a report of each meeting can be useful in this case so that each party clearly knows what has been decided. This will avoid further discussions.

Maybe one of your colleagues is in a difficult situation at work because they just missed out on a promotion? Or maybe they are having personal problems? Try to show understanding for the situation of work colleagues, even if you don't get along very well. Everyone goes through difficult times, and it helps when colleagues are more patient.

Also give a compliment at work from time to time.
If you find that a colleague has successfully managed a project or if someone has helped you in your work, saying so certainly can't hurt. The other person will feel valued and it can only improve your collaboration.
Maintaining good relationships with the people around you is extremely important, even at work! It's so much nicer to feel good at work! Good luck!
