Promoting and encouraging entrepreneurship is now a key element of the country's economic policy. Many organizations, such as incubators, now help young Moroccans turn their ideas into reality and start businesses.
ReKrute conducted a survey on entrepreneurship in Morocco to understand its motivations and obstacles. Given that March 8th is International Women's Day, we found it interesting to connect the subject to Moroccan women.

652 people responded to the survey. The respondents were mostly male and relatively young (50% were between 25 and 34 years old, and one in four was under 25).
This survey revealed some major trends, including:

1- Experienced individuals with over 15 years of experience create more businesses than young professionals

54% of respondents with more than 15 years of experience, compared to 6% of younger respondents. The older Moroccans get, the more they consider starting a business. After years of employment, they want to manage their own business and be their own bosses. 40% of those aged 45-54 and 54% of those aged 55 and over have already created their own company. Furthermore, they feel they have enough
Young people, on the other hand, are not attracted to entrepreneurship (59% of those under 25). Their lack of experience may discourage them from creating a company. They therefore wait to gain more experience before starting and bringing their ideas to life, especially since accessing financing as a young person is not particularly easy: lending institutions are reluctant to finance projects from young profiles.

2- Men are more inclined to start businesses.

18% of the men surveyed have already created their own business, compared to only 5% of women. 49% of men have never considered starting a business, compared to 56% of women. Whether male or female, the reason Moroccans don't start businesses is the lack of resources and funding. This is a unanimous observation in general, except for one reason: fear of failure and risk. Indeed, a 10-point difference is noted (30% for women versus 20% for men). Men have a greater taste for risk and are not afraid of challenges, while women are reluctant to take risks by creating their own business.
