Mundiapolis, a private campus in Casablanca

Casablanca's first private university will open its doors to students in September 2009. A 150 million DH project.

"The resources used at Mundiapolis will be the distinguishing feature that sets it apart from other university structures," said Abderahmane Lahlou, CEO of Mundiapolis, at the project presentation conference on Friday, February 27. This private campus, the first of its kind in Casablanca, required a total investment of 150 MDH, including 90 MDH for the first phase of the project and 60 MDH for the second phase. Built on an area of 3 hectares, this university campus will open to students in September 2009. It has three faculties and offers more than 20 training programs, all with double diplomas from prestigious universities. The campus is located in the new Nouacer Aeropole zone of Casablanca, 30 km from the city and near Mohammed V airport.

For Mr. Lahlou, this project responds to national programs such as the "Emergence" program and believes that "relocations will not happen if there are not enough qualified human resources to follow this development." "Morocco can be an interesting hub for students from the Maghreb and Sub-Saharan Africa," says Mr. Lahlou. He added that Mundiapolis aims to position itself as a leader in the Maghreb within the next 10 years. Regarding tuition fees, the project initiators did not wish to disclose a figure, but they assure that tuition fees will be affordable and will be around 55,000 DH. In other words, they specified that tuition fees would be lower than Al Akhawayn University and slightly higher than other higher education institutions. Moreover, Mr. Lahlou explained that Mundiapolis is, after all, an economic structure that, through infrastructure such as restaurants and shops for visitors, creates wealth outside of education. This approach will, according to Mr. Lahlou, avoid fully passing on the cost of infrastructure and investment to tuition fees, so that they remain affordable. In terms of education, the project leaders have ensured that the various partnerships established with foreign universities have been developed to provide the best for future students.
