Karl Stanzick, CEO of MTDS
"Chance played a role in my career"
"I was a Peace Corps volunteer in Benin. First stroke of luck: after my mission, USAID was rebuilding, and, since I wanted to stay in the country, they asked me to help them, to bring equipment from the port, telephones, radios... I ended up staying two more years. For my arrival in Morocco, in 1995, I found an advertisement, two months old, in the magazine for former volunteers. I sent an email and it turned out that the position was not yet filled. The founder of MTDS was still looking for an IT director. Within a month, I was here, knowing nothing about Morocco."
Siham B., Bilingual Assistant
"I met my current boss on the train"
"I met my new boss on a train between Casa and Rabat, a real coincidence. We talked about our jobs, he was looking for someone young for his company... It clicked right away. Result: my job is more interesting, I'm better paid and better regarded. I didn't have anything against my old job, but after two years, it was a good opportunity to move on and not fall asleep, to try something new... With better conditions, too. So I went for it."
Anouar Ahbabou, Founder of Connect Recruitment
"For me, nothing happens by chance"
"For me, nothing happens by chance, everything is calculated. I look for clients, then I respond to their requests, which are usually very specific. I act a bit like a headhunter, I look for specific profiles based on their experience or technical skills. I meet with employers and candidates, and finally I only make my choice after several, often lengthy, interviews. This is the only way for me to stand out from others, I find that using advertisements is a bit archaic, you waste time and energy given the number of applications. Result: I know who I hire and who I work with."
Mohamed K., Engineer
"My experience and background impressed them"
"For my last job, I didn't think I was qualified enough, it was a completely different sector from what I did before, even if we can still find some similarities... I still left my CV anyway, to see. But after a difficult experience, they were looking for an original profile, and finally my experience and background impressed them. In the end, my integration went well within the company, and the development prospects are quite good. Contrary to what I thought, I fit the bill."
