ReKrute reveals the results of its new survey.

ReKrute has just published its second survey on job searching in the Maghreb and French-speaking Africa.

The sample included more than 5,700 people in Morocco, Tunisia, Central and West Africa. Men represent 65% of all respondents. 40% have a Bac+5 level, followed by Bac+2 which represent 24% of respondents. 56% of those interviewed are currently employed. More than 64% of those interviewed are actively looking for a job.

48% of them have been looking for less than 6 months and 31% for 6 months to a year. The results of the survey confirm that "online recruitment sites are the most used in the job search (90%), followed by unsolicited applications (62%) and company websites (55%)."

The results of the survey also show that "temp agencies and job fairs are the least used job search tools". 71% of those interviewed do not, in fact, go to job fairs and forums. 40% of candidates often solicit their entourage and personal network during their job search. 30% rarely do so. The investigation was also focused on the choice of techniques to optimize the job search.

"94% of respondents optimize their job search by consulting online job offers and 44% prefer to talk to their friends and family. Other techniques mentioned for optimizing the job search are on-site CV submissions and social networks." What is clear from this study is that one in four candidates spends at least two hours a day looking for a job. "57% of respondents say they spend several hours a day looking for a job."

There is no preferred time to look for a job. That said, "more than 36% of those interviewed carry out their job search during the day, regardless of the time. Only 7% of them wait for the weekend to carry out their research." The results of the survey clearly highlight the spontaneous nature of applications in most cases. "58% of respondents send between 1 to 5 unsolicited applications per week and almost 21% send more than 6 unsolicited applications." The results are revealing. That said, "63% of those interviewed respond to 1 to 5 job offers per week and 23% respond to more than 6 job offers. However, almost 15% of those interviewed do not respond to any job offers," say the authors of the survey. In short, job search habits have changed. "The majority of those interviewed claim to systematically adapt their CVs and cover letters to each application sent."

Beyond that, "87% of those interviewed seek information about the company they wish to apply to." The website is also the main source of information. "82% follow the Internet and online recruitment sites," specify the authors of the survey. As for following up with recruiters, "34% of those interviewed barely follow up with recruiters. 27% never do so." The responsiveness of companies is criticized by those interviewed. "80% of those interviewed consider the responsiveness of companies unsatisfactory." The bottom line: a company's image also depends on its response to applications, especially if it has advertised them.
