Staying Zen at Work? 7 Tips to Keep Your Spirits Up.

Being zen at work is a state of mind. If you decide to do things calmly without stressing, your days will be more enjoyable.

But how do you do it? Here are my tips for staying zen at work and keeping your spirits up!

Starting your day well to be zen at work

Give yourself time in the morning to start your day smoothly:
The day before, you will have prepared your clothes and the breakfast table.
When you wake up, don't jump out of bed after turning off a shrill alarm: allow 10 to 15 minutes less sleep to wake up gently (stretching, breathing).
Think about your day with a smile: what good thing will happen to me today?
To go to work, in your car, don't get angry in traffic:
Either you plan to leave earlier.
Or you listen to relaxing music: birds chirping, whale songs, forest sounds, sounds of the surf and waves…
By starting your day “calmly” without stress, you have a better chance of arriving zen at work.

Having a zen office

A necessary condition for staying zen at work is to have a tidy and organized office. You will be more productive and efficient.

Create a pleasant environment: Put flowers, plants, personal items.

Air out your office and diffuse an essential oil spray for its soothing and purifying properties.

Being positive

Being zen at work is knowing how to manage crises. When the day unfolds under pressure and stress, you must know how to put things into perspective, take a step back and not let yourself be overwhelmed by the stress of others.

Changing your perspective on things and people, having a positive state of mind allows you to overcome difficulties. Perfect work does not exist. When you are negative, you only see obstacles. Positive people look for solutions to make their work more stimulating and do not complain.

When a situation stresses you out, when you are overloaded with work, when you no longer know how to respond to all your emails, all the requests, all the emergencies: Relativize and stay positive and ask yourself how to improve the situation? What will happen if I don't deal with this extra file? Are they going to kill me? Often the emergency is not one!

Being zen at work and cultivating a positive mind is a daily exercise: train yourself to develop positive thinking.

To be zen at work: practice the benefits of smiling

Now that you have a positive attitude, smile! Smiling conveys joy and good humor.

American researchers have discovered that smiling has beneficial effects on health. Smiling would trigger biochemical changes in the brain that would release stress and tension accumulated during the day.

The movement developed by the facial muscles when smiling does promote the production of endorphins and plunges our brain into a state of relaxation and increases our well-being.

Don't force yourself to smile, but be aware that practicing smiling allows you to manage stress and have good relationships with your colleagues.

Practicing relaxation at the office

To be zen at work, allow yourself moments of relaxation during your day.

Every two hours, take a 5 to 10-minute break: recharge your batteries and clear your head:

Sit up straight in your chair.
Rest your eyes from the computer, close them for a minute and imagine you are on a desert island.
Inhale by inflating your belly, hold for 5 seconds and exhale slowly through your nose.
Yawn! This removes stress and fatigue.
Walk, get your legs moving.
Stretch to relax your body and especially the tension that builds up in your shoulders.
Drink a large glass of water!
One way to stay zen at work is to leave your office at lunchtime even if you have a lot of work.
Eating a sandwich or quickly swallowing your salad in front of your computer will not allow you to stay zen, on the contrary! Go eat your meal outside, even in your car with soft music and take a few deep breaths. The best is to be able to walk or play sports and the top a short nap!

Even if you feel like you're wasting time taking a lunch break, it allows your mind and body to recharge so you can stay zen when you later have a difficult situation to manage.

Staying zen with your colleagues

It's not easy to stay zen at work when you feel attacked or ignored and your colleagues barely respond to your hello!

Always ask yourself “what is my responsibility? Did I make a mistake? Did my behavior displease?”
Talk to your colleagues, human contact is a factor of fulfillment in any work. Ask them questions about their work, but also about themselves.
Give help and, above all, know how to ask for it.
When a colleague or superior enters your office in a state of nervousness, stay zen, don't let yourself be overwhelmed by their state of stress, stay calm and centered.
