Dressing for Success: Casual Clothes or Outdated Suit?

The traditional interview outfit may not be mandatory. However, you'll probably want to save your jeans and t-shirts for the weekend.
In a casual work environment, what should I wear to an interview?
A few years ago, everyone knew the answer to this question. The standard interview uniform was a suit and tie for men, and a suit and skirt for women. It was assumed that anyone arriving at work in a new outfit had an interview elsewhere that day. However, since dress codes are now less strict, men and women have a wide choice of clothing.
Is the uniform outdated then?
Not necessarily. It's always important to make a good impression. You just need to think longer about how you're going to do it.
So... what should I wear to the interview?
Remember that each company promotes a certain philosophy. It is therefore preferable to find out about the company before the interview. When you make an appointment with the recruiter, ask what would be preferable to wear. You can always call the human resources department to find out about the company's dress code. The employer may tell you how to dress: "You don't have to dress up; a suit won't be necessary." Some people go near the interview location at lunchtime or at the end of a workday to analyze how employees dress.
If I don't wear a suit, what should I choose?
A golden rule is to wear dressier clothes than the employees wear. Never wear jeans or t-shirts, especially those with slogans. Men or women, you can't go wrong with a blazer or suit and casual trousers or a skirt. The blazer (suit) then seems to complete your outfit and solves many style problems.
In some professions, the suit remains a necessity. Salespeople, for example, prefer the look of a suit, as do other professionals such as lawyers or bankers. No matter what clothes you choose, make sure they fit you like a glove and are of the best possible quality. Your investment in a new wardrobe, if any, will seem very worthwhile if you get the job!
What about women wearing trousers or pantsuits for an interview?
This question remains controversial. Some specialists agree that women should always wear a skirt. However, others offer proof that the rules are changing. The pantsuit is now accepted.
Whether you are called for an interview at an Internet company or a bank, it is always better to choose a rather conservative outfit. As soon as they see you, the employer forms an opinion about your personality and appearance. Make sure you're at your best!
