Raising Awareness of the Importance of Recruiting People with Disabilities

After the first Handicap Maroc Forum, the Espoir Maroc Association is organizing a job day for people with disabilities on October 12th in Rabat.

This event is being held in partnership with the Association for the Social and Professional Integration of People with Disabilities in France (ADAPT).

The goal, according to the organizers, is to "directly connect people with disabilities with private or public companies through employment, training, social spaces, and support workshops."

In addition to this objective, the organizers aim to directly connect people with disabilities with those in charge of promoting entrepreneurship in Morocco. They also want to prepare people for employment through practical coaching workshops while allowing them to learn about associations that can help them in their life projects.
Thus, more than 20 partner companies, organizations, and associations will be mobilized under the aegis of the Ministry of Employment and Social Affairs.

As a real place for exchange, this event will bring together workers, people with disabilities, and employers in order to break down prejudices about disability and promote better integration into companies. This meeting also aims to become a real event whose main objective is to raise awareness among recruiters and civil society of the importance of professional integration and maintaining employment for people with disabilities in the public and private sectors. Beyond these objectives, the organizers wish to work on mentalities.

"Handicap Maroc Day for the employment of people with disabilities is an opportunity to continue changing the way citizens view people with disabilities with the mobilization of several associative and private partners," they specify. Furthermore, this event is held as a way to remember people with special needs because, according to the same source, engaging in professional activity represents an important factor for survival, autonomy, and recognition within one's family and community.

Especially since promoting access to employment for people with disabilities in private or public sector companies constitutes a challenge for equality and a major issue for the professional integration of people with specific needs in Morocco. In parallel, training will be offered free of charge to HR managers and recruitment officers to introduce them to the possibilities of adapting positions within their companies.

This seminar will also cover the methods of conducting interviews with a number of candidates with disabilities other than motor disabilities. This cycle will be led by international partners to share experiences and approaches. A great contribution!
