Being subscribed to several social networks like Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter can become a real headache in terms of account organization. There are many operations, between managing Tweets, updating your status, sharing links, there is plenty to do! So, if in your 2010 resolutions, you checked the box "be better organized", here are seven tools that will save you time and streamline your use of social networks. Among these, don't forget to at least check out Shareaholic which facilitates content sharing between platforms, and Atomkeep for basic synchronization, also among the most effective for updating multiple accounts.
1. 8Hands: The 8Hands application is a kind of secretary for profiles created on different networks like Facebook, WordPress, Flickr, Twitter and YouTube. For example, it can send a notification to report new comments, messages, requests or videos from its "friends". It also generates summaries and statistics on social networking activities. Finally, it has a chat window that can be used to drag and drop YouTube videos or photos from a Flickr album that you want to share.
2. Atomkeep: The Atomkeep service allows you to import, synchronize and merge profile data from a wide variety of sites such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Yelp, Digg and Plurk. Atomkeep can easily manage the updating of information related to an email address: simply modify the specific profile element in Atomkeep which will in turn update it in all or a selection of sites. Note that this update is not immediate. As the Atomkeep website specifies, "accounts are processed according to a waiting list based on the service's technical capacity," which also claims to be unable to specify the delay.
3. FriendBinder: FriendBinder brings together all your network friends to display them in a single information stream. It organizes messages from Twitter, displays when someone has downloaded one of your photos from a Flickr album or to forward an invitation to an event on Facebook. FriendBinder also scrolls through conversations and exchanges on the most followed topics on Twitter, making them easier to follow.
4. FriendFeed: The FriendFeed tool allows you to follow in real time the posts in which your friends participate on different networking sites, allowing you to comment on them and participate in the topics. You can also choose from a list of over 50 sites, and share articles with your friends.
5. Ping.fm: Ideal for simultaneously updating multiple statuses, Ping.fm has three categories of action: updating statuses, updating blogs and updating microblogs. It is therefore possible to configure the account to synchronize the content of several services, including Delicious, Facebook, Laconie, LinkedIn, Twitter and WordPress.
6. Pond: Following your friends, collecting information about them and sharing your own content are the functions of Pond developed by the operator TMN. Available for iPhone OS and Android, this tool also allows you to merge your friends' identities. For example, if your friend belongs to Twitter, Facebook and Flickr, you will be able to follow the updates of their services in one go. Pond also allows you to publish or update the same content on several sites at once.
7. Shareaholic: Compatible with different internet browsers, the Shareaholic module allows you to share content with more than 60 social networking sites. By clicking on the Shareholic icon, you can instantly share the page you are currently viewing. By the way, this tool automatically shortens the link in question. It also displays the most viewed topics in real time, and allows you to quickly find the latest news, the latest videos published and the most active blogs.
