A framework agreement aimed at strengthening self-employment for women and girls was signed on Monday, October 13, between the Secretary of State for Women and Family Affairs and the Ministry of Professional Training and Employment.
This agreement aims to allow women and girls to benefit from programs and support mechanisms for the creation of micro-projects.
It also aims to strengthen training and support in the areas of women, children, and the elderly.
Training sessions for the creation of private accommodation centers for the elderly and for categories with specific needs are also planned.
On this occasion, Neila Chaabane, Secretary of State in charge of Women's and Family Affairs, stressed that this agreement will help reduce the unemployment rate for women and girls, which is higher than 21%, compared to 13% for the male population.
She added that under this agreement, women and girls will be able to attend training sessions to promote projects in the sectors of at-risk children and the protection of the elderly through the encouragement of the creation of private accommodation centers for this category.
Women who wish to invest in this area can obtain a loan worth 150,000 dinars, she said, adding that a specification document for the creation of private accommodation centers for the elderly is under development to promote proximity services.
For his part, the Minister of Professional Training and Employment, Hafedh Laamouri, stressed that despite the drop to 15.2% in the unemployment rate, unemployment among women remains high, emphasizing the importance of this agreement in training women in promising sectors to promote their integration into the economic fabric.
