Tourism in Morocco is doing well. The sector has achieved "positive and encouraging" results over the last three years, with increases in arrivals (+8%), hotel capacity (+30,000 beds), and job creation (+50,000 jobs).
Despite a difficult international economic situation, tourism revenue in foreign currency reached almost 174 Billion Dirhams, with a turnover of more than 310 Billion Dirhams.
The tourism sector has more than ever established itself as a "driving force for the country's economic and social development," according to the Minister of Tourism, Lahcen Haddad, speaking at the opening of the 11th Tourism Conference on Monday, September 29, 2014 in Rabat.
The opening ceremony was attended by the head of government and several ministers, high-level foreign dignitaries, such as the Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), and national and international sector operators.
