Creating team spirit is above all the art of motivating people, conveying a common culture and language to all members of a company, bringing together individuals to achieve a single objective together. In order to improve communication and collaboration in the office, sport is often taken as an example given the positive consequences it has on people: it allows to unite totally different individuals, requires the adaptation of opposing personalities...in order to make the team win!
In sport as in business
Sport is often taken as a perfect model for the search for performance, a field of observation on the art of motivating people. Sport is a dream management whose rules of motivation can very well be taken up in the world of work: each individual, identical to his behavior in a team, will, from the moment he is told about team spirit, operate the same values that he applies in his team sport: helping the weakest, putting the group forward, moving the team forward...In sport as in work, it is enough to talk about collective actions, commitment of all members so that the whole team is relaunched as one man! All these values are positive at the group level, we talk about a united group, strong emotions, personal commitment, collective success, and therefore team spirit!
A good leader promotes team spirit
Indeed, teamwork is gradually forged through all the actions of the leader. The manager, whatever the size of his team, must speak on behalf of the team and never in his own name. And the interests of his team must prevail over his personal interests...Team spirit implies that everyone must know and especially feel that they can count on others, but especially not forget that others can count on him too. There is therefore team spirit only if there is a good leader...
Expressing your emotions at work is useful for team spirit!
It seems indeed rather curious to make this kind of statement, but expressing your emotions at work from time to time can promote and unite the employees of the same team!
It is certain that expressing one's frustration or stress would be very badly received by the hierarchy or clients but in other cases, sharing one's emotional state makes it possible to build solidarity between the members of a team.
