Amoud invests 71 MDH for expansion

Two sales outlets will open in Mohammédia and the Californie district in Casa.
A new factory will produce paninis, sandwich bread, Moroccan cakes, and pastries for local and foreign markets.

Amoud, a Moroccan bakery and pastry brand, is expanding its network. Its owners, M’hamed Akdim and Lahcen Essalhi, have decided to open two shops, one in the Californie district of Casablanca, next December, and the other in Mohammédia, in the very near future. These two new locations will have required an investment of 11 and 20 MDH, or 31 million in total.

But Amoud is looking further ahead. Encouraged by the success of the brand, which has become a reference in pastries on the local market, the two partners recently founded a company called "Maroc dessert international". With a capital of 8 MDH, this new entity will produce paninis, sandwich bread, hamburger and hot dog buns..., all distributed in large and medium-sized supermarkets as well as in small grocery stores.

For export, Maroc dessert international will offer, through a French partner specializing in pastries, tarts, pastries (eclairs, mille-feuilles...), and Moroccan small cakes, which are increasingly in demand abroad. To meet European traceability standards, the Moroccan pastry chef will import some of its raw materials.

A budget of 40 MDH has been invested in this new activity, covering the land and a three-story building with a floor area of 6,000 m2 housing the factory, a restaurant, and an Amoud shop. With the new shops in Mohammédia and Californie, this brand will have five locations, including two on Emile Zola Boulevard (the first) and Massira Al Khadra Boulevard, in Casablanca. Thanks to these new investments, totaling 71 MDH, 160 jobs are being added to the 120 created since the launch of the brand.
