The Ministry of Information Technology and Digital Economy and Sofrecom signed an agreement under the Smart Tunisia program, allowing the recruitment of 400 engineers. Minister Noomene Fehri announces that this program will create 80,000 jobs in the digital economy sector over the next 4 years.
This signature marks Sofrecom's, a subsidiary of the Orange group, specialized in consulting and telecom engineering, willingness to strengthen its activities in Tunisia, while contributing to the development of employment in the field of ICTs.
400 engineers recruited by 2018
This initiative is highly appreciated by the Department of Communication Technologies and Digital Economy, through its head, Nooman Fehri, who specified that this is a good start, encouraging investment in the digital economy sector.
"This is a real and decisive policy on the part of Sofrecom, which aims to develop this promising sector, through the recruitment of 240 engineers by the end of 2017, with 80 annual recruitments. This initiative is in line with Tunisia's priorities, which will place its next development plan under the sign of "the digital economy," added the minister, stressing the need to generalize digital culture to win this challenge, which is engaged at an exceptional time where the country is focusing on these promising sectors that will boost the economy.
Financial advantages...
Smart Tunisia will be strengthened through the granting of bonuses to targeted companies, assured Zied Laadhari, Minister of Vocational Training and Employment. "Significant financial advantages will be granted to the companies concerned in order to invest in the training of young people," said the minister to "Africanmanager," specifying that "the objective is to guide graduates in specialties that are experiencing integration difficulties towards promising sectors such as ICTs, the green economy and the solidarity economy."
The minister assured that support will be given to interested companies so that they can fully play their role. Moreover, contracts have been signed between these companies and the Department of Employment and Vocational Training to achieve this objective. "This approach is important because it allows us to evaluate the contribution of these companies and to best ensure their contribution to the country's development."
In this context, the Ministry of Vocational Training and Employment, through the National Employment Fund, has made 5000 dinars available annually to each company, an amount that will be dedicated to training and a bonus of 700 dinars for each candidate recruited in this framework.
Tunisia, a flagship of offshore activity
For his part, Jacques Moulin, CEO of Sofrecom, expressed optimism about this first initiative that will facilitate recruitment and development. "Tunisia will be a flagship in offshore activity and more broadly in integration activities," said the official, believing that from Tunisia, a center of reference and service will be created in areas affecting all clients, more precisely French-speaking clients.
"It's feasible," said Haykel Hmidi, Sofrecom's commercial director, the youngest subsidiary of the Group inaugurated in 2012.
This official indicated that "Smart Tunisia will encourage foreign companies to set up in Tunisia to create jobs. It is a win-win partnership between foreign companies active in the ICT sector, and Tunisia, which has high-level skills. These companies will actually benefit from tax advantages, paid training and other logistical opportunities with the commitment to recruit at least 240 new engineers by 2017," he emphasizes.
Our interlocutor also stated: "We are looking at other projects that will be the lever for Tunisia's economic recovery: e-gov, e-health, e-education and e-administration projects."
With this commitment, Sofrecom will be among the largest, we will be in the Top 10 of employers in offshoring, he maintains.
