A workshop on the theme "The reality of local development and job prospects in the delegations of Al Mazouna, Regab, Souk Jedid, Meknessi and Menzel Bouzayne in the governorate of Sidi Bouzid" was held last Saturday at the vocational training and retraining center in Meknessi.
The meeting, held at the initiative of the Scientific Association for Support of Technological Innovation and Development of Sidi Bouzid, was an opportunity to highlight the importance of the natural resources found in the governorate of Sidi Bouzid, including useful substances (gypsum, marble stone, sand, clay), alternative energies and phosphate reserves.
Participants in this workshop suggested the creation of cement, gypsum, brick and pottery factories, as well as granting authorization for phosphate prospecting operations, emphasizing the need to strengthen road infrastructure.
They also called for improving agricultural tracks, examining the land situation of state-owned land, generalizing irrigated perimeters, encouraging farmers, boosting the role of the farmers' union and agricultural extension cells, and creating hill lakes.
Participants also recommended strengthening the creation of universities, laboratories and research units in Sidi Bouzid. They called for boosting the role of industrial zones, developing the craft sector, rehabilitating vocational training centers, strengthening the health sector, optimizing the exploitation of cultural heritage and protecting archaeological sites.
The recommendations from this meeting will be submitted to the new government.
