Some companies hold group interviews with several candidates. In this type of interview, even more so than in a 'classic' job interview, you absolutely must prove yourself. Because you are in a group of people who all have the same goal as you: to get the job! But don't panic, a group interview can also be an opportunity to stand out even better. Here are some tips.
1. The group interview allows the recruiter to get to know you better. Not only do they hear what you have to say, but they can also assess your group behavior and your collaboration skills. In addition, they can observe your reactions in stressful situations. Generally, you are placed in a concrete situation that you must manage individually or with the other candidates.
2. If your resume highlights your team spirit, consider highlighting this characteristic during the interview. Let others speak during group discussions, listen to what they have to say and take their opinions into account.
3. Are you rather shy? In this case, do everything you can to assert yourself within the group. However, dose your assertiveness so that it does not come across as arrogance.
4. Are you more of a leader? Make sure not to monopolize the attention during the interview. Also allow others the time and opportunity to express themselves, take their presence into account. There is certainly no shame in liking to take the initiative, but also remember to integrate the other participants.
5. Overall, the rule is this: know how to be visible without monopolizing all the attention.
6. Also reread our tips for individual job interviews, they may be useful to you because some questions may be identical. For example, as in an individual interview, you will more than likely be asked to introduce yourself.
7. If there are several recruiters, don't always address the same one, remember to look at them all from time to time when you have the floor.
8. When the recruiters introduce themselves, try to remember their names and job titles. This can be useful if you then want to address them or explain something specifically to one or the other.
9. As during an individual interview, don't hesitate to ask questions, but don't overdo it. Just make sure that everything is clear to you at the end of the interview.
10. Some companies also call a group interview a job interview conducted by different recruiters. In this case, you are the only candidate but you are interviewed by several people. When you are invited to a group interview, therefore, never hesitate to ask for a little more information to know exactly what to expect.
