We've all experienced stress at some point in our lives. In some people, stress can cause illness, constant fatigue, depression, and other serious health problems. That's why it's important to regularly take time to relax, even at work. The following tips are very easy to apply and can also be helpful for people stressed by their job search:
1. Stretch
Sitting is more demanding on the body than standing. If you experience pain or discomfort, stand up and stretch. This will correct your posture and relieve tense muscles. At the same time, try to clear your mind and relax the rest of your body as much as possible. You'll be surprised how much simple stretching can reduce stress at work.
2. Breathe deeply
Place your hands on your stomach and breathe deeply through your nose. Feel the air fill your abdomen, then the lower lungs and finally the rib cage. Exhale slowly through your mouth in the opposite direction: rib cage, lower lungs, abdomen.
Repeat the exercise several times until you feel more relaxed.
3. Rest your eyes
If you also spend 8 hours a day in front of a computer screen, try to look away from time to time by focusing on a distant point. Look for objects that are easy to look at. Another technique: blink your eyes several times in a row to moisten and clean them.
4. Listen to relaxing music
An office can get very noisy. Sometimes your ears need a break. Put on headphones. If you listen to music, choose songs or background sounds that invite relaxation. Your colleagues will quickly understand that you don't want to be disturbed.
5. Laugh
Laughter is an effective technique to combat moments of stress at the office. Need a break? Take the opportunity to watch a funny video and have a good laugh. You'll feel better afterwards.
If, after following these tips, you still feel stressed, it may be time to ask yourself if you really want to do this job for the rest of your life.
