It's true that not everyone jumps for joy at the thought of going to work every day. However, it is possible (even necessary) to enjoy going to work and immersing yourself in it.
Here are five tips to help you see professional life through rose-tinted glasses…
1. Challenge yourself.
What if your lack of energy sometimes comes from the fact that you no longer feel sufficiently motivated, driven, that you have stopped wanting to surpass yourself…?
Try to see your files and missions as new opportunities, opportunities to learn and improve, but also, and above all, to surprise yourself by surpassing yourself. For example, if you don't particularly like leading meetings, set yourself the goal of captivating the audience with a particularly powerful introduction.
2. Multiply sources of satisfaction.
Start by identifying the tasks and actions that you enjoy, that you see as sources of pleasure, that help you flourish in your profession. To identify these files that have driven you the most, think about identifying, every evening when you leave your post, what you enjoyed most during the day: an invigorating meeting, a satisfying client meeting, a rewarding interview… And then try to increase the number of missions of the same type. Talk to your colleagues and, of course, to your superiors. Cultivate your gifts, let your talents flourish, develop your potential through the desire to do and the satisfaction of having done!
3. Avoid paralyzing pressures.
Some pressures, too heavy, too recurrent, too overwhelming, act as real obstacles to work and the fulfillment of employees: the unconscious fear of lack of recognition, of failure and/or refusal/rejection, the race for perfection, the loss of meaning or boredom…
Start by identifying what your silent expectations are, those that, well hidden, excite you or, on the contrary, discourage you, so that you can unblock them by being more creative, by opening yourself more to others, by increasingly dispensing with the blatant recognition of your loved ones… Then ask yourself: how could you free yourself from the pressure related to this task in order to fully achieve your file and be able to feel the pleasure associated with it?
4. Try to see "your" positive.
You have just completed your mission, you are taking stock, in your head. Start by no longer obsessing over automatically identifying where things went wrong, but instead pointing out the encouraging and positive aspects of the completed file. Be aware of the effort made, the results achieved… Learn to congratulate yourself, to be proud of what you have put in place, to talk to yourself as you would to your best friend, with respect and a touch of admiration.
5. Develop your sense of joy.
Joy is magic. It calls for joy, for the good humor of others. It is undeniably a source of dynamism, efficiency, and personal and professional performance. It must therefore be allowed to develop. By avoiding, at all costs, dwelling on unpleasant points, closing yourself off to others and positive energies, by avoiding complainers and toxic colleagues. Good humor is one of the secrets of happiness. Work together to foster a jovial work atmosphere that takes into account every piece of good news, that establishes a cordial understanding between employees, who have also decided to multiply innovation, creativity and success.
