Faced with organizational changes and a constantly changing business climate, managers see their activity and morale fluctuate. To measure the morale of Moroccan managers, we have set up a barometer with relevant indicators. The survey was conducted with 2867 profiles Bac+4, Bac+5 and more in Morocco, it allowed to highlight among others the following major trends:
1- 60% of Moroccan managers are demotivated
The main causes of this demotivation are: the lack of career progression, insufficient remuneration and lack of professional recognition.
Indeed, 65% of demotivated managers are mainly so because of a lack of career progression. If the work environment does not evolve and does not allow them to progress, their motivation level decreases and then plays against the organization. This demotivation leads to high employee turnover costs and a loss of skills of talented employees.
In 2nd position of demotivation factors comes insufficient remuneration (62%). We know that salary is the main lever of motivation for managers (see detailed survey results), so it is necessary to ensure that managers are remunerated fairly to avoid a decrease in performance.
Beyond the impact on motivation, the lack of professional recognition (suffered by 54% of managers) can also impact the mental health of managers and lead to real disengagement.
2- Managers do not really have the means to achieve their objectives
55% of managers believe that their company does not really or not at all give them the means to achieve their objectives, against 45% who declare being satisfied with the means made available by their company to achieve their objectives.
The lack of resources therefore directly impacts the motivation of managers and does not allow them to progress in their career.
As a reminder, in May, 68% of managers were satisfied with the resources deployed by the company to achieve their objectives.
3- Managers are happier than executives
49% of managers feel stress or moral fatigue, compared to 45% of executives (survey "The morale of executives" carried out in May 2017)
16% say that their work gives them happiness and pleasure, compared to 27% of executives.
4-Managers are optimistic
Despite their demotivation, managers remain optimistic about their future with their current employer. Indeed, 44% of respondents are rather optimistic, and 8% are even very optimistic. 13% are very pessimistic and 35% are rather pessimistic.
