How to succeed in your PowerPoint presentation

Whether it's an analysis report to your hierarchy, a business meeting, an annual objectives presentation or other, we are all regularly led to use PowerPoint presentations.
The PowerPoint presentation supports the speech, clarifies the remarks and reinforces memorization with our audience, provided that it is of course structured, explicit and synthetic. You must therefore take the time for your presentation and make it a management tool that will help you enhance your value.

A few tips to optimize your presentation

Refine your plan
There are two types of plans. The deductive plan which presents all the arguments to draw conclusions, and the inductive plan which presents the conclusion first then explains. For technical or difficult subjects, it is advisable to use the deductive plan. For action plans, it would be interesting to use the inductive one, even if one can encounter resistance and fears, especially if the public does not agree with the measures taken.

Seduce your audience
Before starting your presentation, quickly analyze the context: what is the objective of your presentation? How will your audience react? Then adapt the content and form. Because beyond its presentative character, a presentation must fulfill various objectives: to seduce, to convince, to inform, whether it is in front of a receptive, neophyte or hostile audience... So take the time, before starting, to create a relationship on an emotional level with your audience, smile, introduce yourself, say words of welcome...

Synthesize your presentation
The principle is not to scroll through a maximum of slides in record time, but rather to take the time to select the most important information and to deconstruct your presentation in the most condensed way possible.

Opt for sobriety
First of all, guarantee good readability. Slide titles should be at least size 20 and text size 14. Also choose a standard font for all documents. Do not overuse effects and animations, apply the company's charter or otherwise it is recommended not to use more than three colors.

Avoid reading
You can rely on the slides, but it is imperative to rephrase in other words, and to illustrate with examples. So to optimize your message, avoid writing all the data on the slide as well as the examples you intend to cite, this will leave you more leeway.

Opt for a clear speech
Construct your speech by asking yourself the following questions: what is the situation? What are the impacts and repercussions? These questions will allow you to clarify your speech and will serve as an introduction. Avoid using too many technical terms in your presentation, because it is likely that your expert jargon will not be understood and you may then see your audience disconnect. Also take the time to reread yourself, it will allow you to eliminate spelling mistakes which are never welcome.

Avoid being caught by time
Don't dwell too much on details, you risk finishing your presentation at a run without being able to conclude. However, the end of the presentation must be well-cared for, it must be short and striking. It must also conclude with a more general perspective, even in the long term.
