MED-IT 2011 Awards
Globally, the mobile app market is booming, expected to triple its revenue in 2012. Similarly, over 50 billion mobile apps are projected to be downloaded in 2012, compared to just over 7 billion in 2009. Indeed, over 180 million smartphones have been sold worldwide, with very strong growth prospects.
In Morocco, mobile app production is still in its early stages. But to encourage this very promising sector, the Med-IT 2011 show, taking place from November 15th to 17th at the Office des Changes in Casablanca, has decided to make it the main theme of this year's Awards, with a competition for the best Moroccan mobile applications.
Organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and New Technologies and sponsored by Samsung, Air Telecom and the Moroccan Mobile Monday Network, this event aims to promote the development of mobile applications in Morocco through a competition to identify the best achievements. This competition will be an accelerator to inspire new vocations, discover and value young talents.
Applications must be developed on at least one of these platforms: Android, Java mobile or Bada and must be accessible via app stores. They must show real innovation in terms of product, packaging, use or technique. Applications developed specifically for the competition will be particularly encouraged by the jury. Finally, 4 winners will receive a trophy and prizes offered by Samsung, the Gold Sponsor of the event. 3 prizes will reward the best mobile applications and an additional 1st prize will reward the Best Mobile Application developed on Bada.
1st prize: 1 Check of 20,000 dhs + 1 Smartphone.
2nd prize: 1 Check of 15,000 dhs + 1 Galaxy Tab Tablet.
3rd prize: 1 Check of 10,000 dhs + 1 Galaxy Tab Tablet.
1st Bada prize: 1 Check of 20,000 dhs + 1 Smartphone
These applications will be presented at the official Med-IT 2011 awards ceremony on Wednesday, November 17th at the Office des Changes.
Participation in the competition is free and open to any independent developer, student, or young company located in Morocco.
