• As the manager of a construction site, the construction site manager organizes, plans, controls, and ensures that deadlines are met. A machine breaks down, materials don't arrive on time, a snowstorm... it's up to him to make the right decisions to prevent any delays.
2. Missions
• His duties vary depending on the size of the company and the size of the construction site. While in a small company he manages a contract from start to finish, on a very large construction site he will only handle a part of the work. However, generally speaking, he follows the work from A to Z.
• Present from the first technical and price study meetings of the project, he organizes the construction site. After examining the architect's plans, he assesses the workforce required and is responsible for recruitment. He chooses the materials and subcontractors needed for the construction of the project. Assisted by the construction foreman, he puts together and manages the teams, monitors the progress of the work, writes construction reports and meets with clients. He particularly ensures that the deadlines and budget initially planned are met. Finally, he implements hygiene and safety measures.
3. Training:
• The BTS (higher technician certificate) in public works and the BTS in building are prepared in two years in a high school or private institution.
• A number of professional bachelor's degrees directly prepare for the job of construction site manager.
• A specialized school such as the ESTP
4. Required Qualities:
• must possess communication and dialogue skills, be welcoming and receptive, know how to work in a team and participate in creating and maintaining a positive working relationship for everyone,
• must be open and able to adapt to different situations,
• must have analytical and synthesis skills, both to convey operational instructions and to find realistic practical solutions to problems encountered.
5. Remuneration
• Almost 2,000 euros gross per month for a beginner, 3,000, or even 4,000 euros for an experienced manager.
