Le charisme, tout le monde en parle quand bien peu seraient capables de le définir précisément. Normal, puisque sa définiton elle-même nous indique qu’il s’agit d’une grâce, d’un don, d’une autorité naturelle, d’un pouvoir de séduction, d’une influence qu’une personne exerce sur son entourage et public.
Mais alors, peut-on penser qu’il se travaille, que l’on peut l’acquérir, voire l’améliorer, l’augmenter ? Il semblerait bien que oui …
1. Knowing how to respect the influence of Others to be respected in one's own influence
Having influence without fighting to influence, mastering without practicing domination, this is the capacity, partly innate, which is elaborated, develops and establishes itself with time and experience. Contrary to this, and very badly perceived and received in business, there is the authoritarianism of small hallway bosses, the power fanatics.
Being charismatic is being able to let the charisma of the Other express itself. It is to accept, understand and respect the reality of the other's influence while having deep confidence in one's own.
2. Knowing how to state things
It is important here to understand the nuance between knowing how to assert oneself and generating aggression. Indeed, knowing how to state clearly, to get straight to the point, without ignoring what is disturbing, without shouting either, without going to conflict, there lies all the art of influential and constructive enunciation.
When you have a remark to make to a colleague, use neither an attitude of submission, by bowing before the error, nor an attitude of verbal violence. Channel your reflection in order to be able to express yourself clearly and simply. State the problem before presenting, concisely, what its harmful consequences are. Then move on to the resolution of the difficulty encountered, without lingering unnecessarily.
Reminding people of the rules without hurting allows you to move from the negative to the positive quickly and efficiently.
3. Knowing how to take a step back without distancing oneself
“Relativizing” is a key word when it comes to charisma. It is imperative, for anyone who wants to develop their natural authority, to understand that not everything should be a cause for concern. If it is true, for example, that one should not let everything pass, it is nonetheless important to know how to distinguish and only react to what raises a real issue. So accept certain unpleasant realities that are not directly related to you but rather to your function. It is important, for example, to be able to differentiate between nicknames and insults, between criticism and attacks…
