Keljob launches a new type of virtual network tool. Companies email job offers to a few employees who then share them with potential candidates.
Professional networking sites like LinkedIn or Viaduc already existed. With the creation of Jobster last March, a new milestone was reached across the Atlantic. Between traditional recruitment sites and networking tools, Jobster.com reinvents the old concept of job sites: it allows recruiters to target only passive job seekers. Following in its footsteps, Keljob, the French job search engine, is preparing to launch Cooptin on October 19, 2005, a new tool designed to manage employee referrals via a hosted platform. In the IT industry, this recruitment method is very common. Especially in service companies, which on average make 20% of their hires through referrals. And yet, emphasizes Cyril Janin, CEO of Keljob, "most companies still manage referrals in a rudimentary way. For example, they have no visibility on the people who brought in candidates."
Good Ambassadors
Cooptin's principle is simple: recruiters select from their electronic address book the list of employees likely to know people with the desired profile. To do this, they simply import this contact list. The offer is then automatically sent to the email address of these employees, who in turn forward it. And in a very short time, recruiters can obtain a selection of well-targeted resumes. Often, indeed, employees who forward the job offer to their acquaintances are good "ambassadors" for their company. Another advantage: the company attracts applications from people who are often already employed, and who would not necessarily have applied on job sites. On the other hand, they will more easily take the time to look at a friend's proposition.
Recruiters then obtain real-time information on the referral operation. And this via a single dashboard: number of people contacted, number of intermediaries, etc. With a single click, they also collect data on candidates (last position held, experience, etc.). They immediately see if the application has been processed, if it has been accepted or rejected, or if the potential new recruit has been called for an interview. All this information helps refine the next referral campaign.
