Congratulations! Your hard work, optimism, perseverance, and willpower have paid off, and you've been invited for a job interview for that position you want so much... This moment is precious and important. Live it with serenity and success.
More than just a human encounter, a job interview is a real oral evaluation. So you need to "bone up" beforehand, by thinking about it and working as much (or more) as you did on your resume and cover letter - which have allowed you to reach this crucial stage:
- Seriously prepare for your interview: get information, practice speaking, learn and remember key facts, meet people who work in the same field... This will allow you to arrive on the day with great self-confidence and will give a very positive image to your recruiter.
- Find out about the company: its activity, its environment, its projects, its performance, its corporate culture, its strengths, its weaknesses, its evolution and changes, its career management policy... Don't hesitate to use multiple sources of information (real, virtual, oral)
- Take care of your image: dress in a style that matches the company's style. "When in Rome, do as the Romans do", and yes, "clothes make the man". Obviously avoid sloppy and unprofessional outfits: jeans, sneakers...
- Be as natural as possible: obviously, you're tense. It would be surprising not to be. However, try not to show it, or at least try to show very little. Try to remain natural, while remembering to stand up straight (not stiff and austere), to breathe normally and not to be too disordered in your gestures and attitudes. Also remember to look at each of your interlocutors, to look them in the eye but without animosity or defiance.
Remember that if the recruiter is doing their best not to hire a candidate who does not meet the requirements of the position, you also don't want to be hired for a position that doesn't meet your expectations. Don't play a role in which you could get trapped and from which you might later have difficulty freeing yourself...
