We are all capable of much more than we believe, in our work, but there isn't a person who doesn't doubt themselves a little, sometimes, often or always, depending on the individual... We never have perfect self-confidence. Normal. Self-confidence isn't innate. It is built each day, gradually, through life experiences, contacts, successes...
The secret of self-esteem lies, perhaps, in good self-knowledge and, more than anything, in a real and deep acceptance of who we are, with our flaws and qualities, our strengths and weaknesses, this beautiful mix, so human and moving!
Of course, we all have labels stuck on our backs, some from childhood, others later; we all more or less suffer from preconceived ideas, categorizations, but it doesn't matter! There comes a time when we must look and look at ourselves honestly and work peacefully to increase our self-esteem.
Self-confidence, this essential element...
How to move forward in professional life -and in life, in general-, how to dare to seize the opportunities that present themselves to us if we don't believe in ourselves...? How to convince others of our value if we doubt it? How to smile, simply, when we live permanently with someone we don't like enough, in whom we don't fully believe...? It is difficult to progress without believing in oneself, in one's abilities and therefore by being confident in life. Not doubting oneself too much allows one to set challenges, to give oneself the confidence to face novelty or even rivalry. It also allows one to think and act freely, without worrying about the opinions of others, the judgments that hinder movement.
Self-confidence is built...
Assume your opinions: Start by training yourself to assume your opinions, to dare to give, at least once a day, your precise opinion on a given subject. Learn to defend your positions, calmly and by deeply assuming your tastes and choices, your decisions, your opinions. Even if you are the only one convinced, remember that sharing your point of view in public (and even more so if it goes against established thought) and defending your ideas helps to strengthen self-esteem. This is why people most often follow those they consider to be "leaders", who loudly proclaim their opinions, without fear of displeasing or being rejected because they don't have the same ideas.
Assert yourself: Because yes, indeed, you can't please everyone. You will have to accept that, make peace with it. It's high time to live with it and not suffer from losing those you don't please. Bending over backwards to please, stooping to seduce has never engendered any self-esteem. And if you must know how to not be rigid, know how to change your mind, evolve, grow, mature, change your position, consider things from a different, new angle, it remains that knowing who you are and what you want is appreciable and appreciated!
So remember to say what you think when asked, without being afraid of disappointing your interlocutors.
Motivate yourself: At the precise moment when you are preparing to go to work, repeat a sentence to yourself that motivates you to start your day. For example, tell yourself, on repeat, that today you are going to have a very good day or that today you are finally going to close such and such a project and try to feel the positive effects of these mental projections in your body. The energy is almost immediate. Don't denigrate the power of positive thinking too much, this method works for good.
Set yourself challenges: Set yourself reasonable and achievable goals, of course, but which will take you out of your intellectual routine and allow you to bring out some of your qualities that you have forgotten or whose mere existence you were unaware of!
Finally, don't wait for things to happen on their own, for them to arrive by themselves. On the contrary. Go and get them, go towards them according to your needs and desires. Living new experiences is always an excellent way to discover your still unknown qualities and to strengthen self-confidence.
