Action Plan for Landing an Interview

Several months without landing an interview... Despite a difficult job market, could you have made one of the most common mistakes of beginner job seekers?
Use multiple "channels." Some recent graduates are lucky: shortly after submitting their resume to a job board, their inbox contains interview offers. But this is not the case for most of them. Resume databases are useful, but you can't just wait for recruiters to come to you. Target the companies to which you will send unsolicited applications, contact them to find out the status of your application and take the opportunity to remind them of your interest in the position. Use your network and don't miss any job fair. The more ways you search, the more likely it is to succeed quickly.
Review your plan of attack. Very satisfied with having earned your degree, you may have thought a little hastily that the next step would be just as easy. Result: you started your job search with a lot of enthusiasm but also a lot of carelessness. You need to review your methodology. Objectives, resumes, cover letters... Start all over again!
Benchmark. What about your classmates? Are they getting interviews? Are some of them even employed? What strategy did they implement? What did they highlight in their resume and cover letter? Ask them for inspiration from their practices.
Consider alternative solutions. The position you are applying for has limited opportunities? Is the sector you are interested in bleak? It would certainly be appropriate to broaden your search by applying to sectors that have common characteristics with those that interest you. Nothing will prevent you, after 1 or 2 years of experience, from trying your luck again, with a more detailed resume.
