Defining your professional project is the first step in any job search. It's a process of self-reflection that requires a methodical approach.
Why define your professional project?
Clarifying your professional project will allow you to:
Structure your resume and cover letter
Know how to sell yourself during job interviews
Successfully execute your job search strategy and stay on the right track.
Self-Reflection
To find your professional path, you should assess your personality, aspirations, motivation, skills, and experiences. This involves taking stock of your strengths (skills and qualities), then questioning your personal values (money, security, responsibility, creativity...), before studying the feasibility of the project.
The work will focus on the following three areas:
What you want to do: what is your project;
What you know how to do: identification of your skills;
What companies are looking for: study of the job market.
Once this self-reflection is complete, you will be able to see if you need training to realize your professional project.
Pôle Emploi's 7 Golden Rules
1- Take into account all your personal and professional experiences to identify your strengths.
2- Be open to all opportunities; the environment evolves, so should you.
3- Ensure that your professional choice takes into account both what is important to you and the socio-economic reality.
4- Enrich yourself through your network: it can help you discover aspects of your project that you hadn't thought of.
5- Be prepared to invest time, energy, and perseverance to bring your project to fruition.
6- Evaluate what you risk losing and what you can gain by undertaking a particular professional project.
7- Move from idea to project, then from project to action by setting deadlines.
