You finally got that famous interview you were waiting for. The big day arrives and you absolutely must do everything to optimize your chances of being recruited.
Below is a short description of things you should absolutely not do, because although it is human to make mistakes, they can harm you…
Arriving late: Arriving 5 or 10 minutes late isn't too bad. However, avoid exceeding this time without notifying the company you have an appointment with. A 30-minute delay could almost pass, the essential thing is to be professional, and therefore to warn and make sure that it does not pose a problem. So don't forget to get the contact details of your contact when making an appointment, you never know!
Above all to avoid, and which unfortunately is increasingly frequent, is simply not showing up and turning off your phone. It can happen to anyone to change their mind, the recruiter can understand, but please let them know. The market is very small and recruiters exchange information between each other, it would be a shame to penalize yourself simply because you didn't dare to call.
Speaking badly about your former employer: Speaking badly about a former employer is very badly perceived. Denigrating a company that welcomed you for a certain period can indeed push the recruiter to refuse your application for fear of seeing their name defamed in the event that you part on bad terms.
Not taking care of your physical appearance: Take care of your clothing, the recruiter is sensitive to this aspect. At worst, it is better to be overdressed than underdressed, you will always have time to adapt to the habits of the structure once you have integrated it.
Not asking questions during and at the end of the interview: Don't hesitate to ask questions during the interview whenever you want.
Above all, avoid:
• Looking at your watch
• Not seeming interested
• Having a proud and nonchalant air
• Being too sure of yourself
• Lying about your qualities and defects
• Not finding out about the company
